Detox Drinks


Detox drinks are supposed to work by providing the body with nutrients in liquid form, while fasting for the rest of the day. Stanley Burroughs, the creator of the lemonade diet or Master
Cleanse, says that detoxing this way will flush toxins from the body. However, this detox is now more closely associated with dieting than cleansing.

After knowing about the detox spices (here) let's know about some detox drinks.Now,before heading towards the recipes let us know the benefits of having detox drinks.

Benefits:
Flush out toxins
Boost energy levels.
Encourage weight loss.
Improve the skin.

This cleansing process usually lasts for a week.Then it becomes easier to switch to a healthier diet as you will no longer crave for bad food like sugar or caffeine.


1.Pineapple,Lemon and Pomegranate juice.


Ingredients
3/4 cup fresh pineapple
1 lemon
3 cups of water
1 cup pomegranate juice.

Mix all the juice and stir well.Now, your detox drink is ready.
This detox drink flushes the kidney.

2.Raw Cabbage Juice:

Cabbage juice is high in Vitamin C and also contains a lot of glutamine, the anti inflammatory amino acid. It helps in maintaining the colon health.

3.Orange Detox Drink

Ingredients
Fresh orange Juice
1 lemon
1 inch ginger piece
1 tsp brown sugar
4 to 5 mint leaves
Rock salt and normal salt

To make it, add 1 tsp brown sugar to a bowl. Grate the 1 inch ginger piece and add to this. Add salt to taste. Cut a lime into 4 quarters and then cut each quarter into two. Add to the bowl.
Tear the mint leaves by hand add to the bowl. Muddle this mixture. Now add this muddled mixture to a glass and top up with fresh orange juice. Stir well.

Pour this detox drink into martini glasses, sprinkle some rock salt over it, add a lemon slice and you are set for a tasty and refreshing drink treat.
4.Cucumber,Ginger,Lemon and Mint:

Ingredients
1/2 cucumber
1 inch ginger
1 lemon
10 mint leaves
1 lit. water

Take water add thinly sliced cucumbers.The cucumbers should be peeled.Then add sliced lemons to the water.Grate some ginger and add to the water.Finally, add mint leaves.Stir properly and refrigerate it overnight.This ca be drunk in the next morning.You can add honey to taste.

5.Doodhi Carrot Juice

Dhoodi Carrot Juice is a great way to help detox and feel refreshed at the start of the day. The juice is a delicious blend of bottle gourd, carrot, ginger and lemon and having this the first thing in the morning is absolutely refreshing.
Ingredients
1 cup bottle gourd peeled and chopped
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1 inch piece ginger
3-4 mint leaves
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Sugar and salt to taste
Note: You can also add 1/2 cup of chopped beetroot, it tastes fantastic and adds to the iron content as well.

Method
Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth, adding 1 cup of water to make a fine puree. Transfer to a decanter, add 2 more cups of water, add more or less to suit your desired consistency. Adjust the salt and sugar levels to your taste and stir.
Serve cold. Best had early morning to help detox.

Alternatively: you can use a juicer to extract the juice from the carrots and gourd, but the pulp value is lost and you will have to use a lot more of the gourd and carrot to get the desired quantity.
