Orange Peel Powder Face Packs

Most of the times we throw away the peels after eating an orange.Do you know the peels contain more vitamin C than the flesh inside. The peels are also a storehouse of nutrients and
antioxidants. But,why to take all these pain of drying the peels and making a mask at home, when you can try the ready made ones???So ,read on....

Why homemade face masks are better:

Homemade face masks come with all the goodness of natural, chemical free skin care treatments made by nature. Fruits are rich in AHAs and other micronutrients which nourish and heal the skin. The 'fruit compounds' expensive skin creams claim to contain may be just a fraction of what is found in the fruit itself. Save yourself the money and the chemical damage, and make your own loving homemade masks for your skin

Benefits of orange peel:

Vitamin C
Protects skin from free radical damage. Keeps acne at bay and promotes a healthy skin glow.
Calcium
Helps in renewal of worn out cells and prevents DNA damage. Good for healing dry flaky and itchy skin.
Potassium
Hydrates withered dehydrated skin. Helps preserve moisture in skin.
Magnesium
Prevents oxidative stress in skin cells. For youthful glowing skin.

How to make orange peel powder:

To make powdered orange peel, simply save up orange peels from the orange fruits that you eat, remove the white fribrous parts on the inside of the peel and wash them in warm distilled water.
Spread the orange peel a tray and place them in an area which receives plenty of sunshine. Let your orange peel sundry for a day or two.
Now crush and powder your peels into a fine powder using a food processor or blender, without adding any water.
Store it in an air tight jar.

Now, lets move to the face packs:
1.Blemish free face pack:

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons orange peel powder
  • 1 teaspoon organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon yogurt
Method:

Mix all the above ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face. Sit for 15 minutes or until it dries out. When the time is up, rinse your face gently until all of the mixture is completely gone. Pat dry with a towel. You can also use coconut or olive oil as a natural moisturizer to combat dryness.

Honey: Has powerful antibacterial and antiseptic agent. Slows down aging process of skin by fighting off free radicals. Moisturizers skin.

Yogurt:Contains live cultures that kill acne causing germs and bacteria. Hydrates and nourishes skin.

Tips:

  1. Make sure to gather your hair away from your face before applying this mask. Put on a headband or plastic shower cap to prevent the mixture from going on your hair.
  2. You can add more honey or yogurt to make the mixture a little runny to apply it effectively.
  3. Don’t over proportionate the orange peel powder as it may burn your skin.

2.Anti acne pack:

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons orange peel powder
  • 1 teaspoon oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
Method:

Mix all the above ingredients with enough quantity of water until a thick paste is formed. Using clean fingertips, massage a thick coat of the mixture to your face in a gentle circular motion. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with cold water, when the time elapses and pat dry with a clean towel. Your skin will feel amazing soft and look clean and moisturised. If your skin looks dry though, (especially on the acne areas) simply add a drop of olive oil to your palm and apply on your face.

Oat meal: Gently exfoliates and scrubs skin clean. Absorbs and eliminates impurities and dirt from the skin’s surface.

Baking soda: Deep Cleanses Skin.

Tips:

  1. Make sure you're using baking soda, and not baking powder!
  2. Ensure not to smile or talk with the face mask on! This will stretch your skin around the mouth and eyes and actually cause wrinkles to form.
  3. If the orange peel powder and oat meal used together feels a little rough on your skin, add more olive oil but don’t make it too runny as it will create a drippy mess.

3.Oily,pimple prone skin:

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons orange peel powder
  • I teaspoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Method:

In a small mixing bowl, mix the above ingredients until a thick mixture if formed. Steam your face to open up your pores. Apply the mixture onto your face using clean finger tips in a circular motion. Sit for 15 minutes. In this time, you can take a quick soak in the bath or read a chapter of a book you’ve been meaning to. Keep yourself relaxed. When the time elapses, gently rinse your face thoroughly and pat dry with a towel. Your face will have a wonderful glow and feel silky and soft!

Coconut oil: Pushes out the excess sebum clogged in your pores. Hydrates and nourishes skin of all types including peeling acne prone skin.

Milk: Packed with vitamins and minerals, milk nourished skin as well as giving a soft feel to it.

Tips:

  1. To open up your pores, you can also have a quick splash with warm water as an alternative to steaming.
  2. To liquefy your coconut oil, place it in a bowl of hot water and it will melt in a few seconds.
  3. It doesn't matter if you use low fat or skim milk instead of full fat milk in this mask.
